Review: Fearless (by Max Lucado)

"Imagine Your Life Without Fear"

I highly recommend Max Lucado's latest book titled Fearless to anyone who is dealing with fear in their life, and that means everyone! Unfortunately, we all have fear ... and it could be a fear of dying, a fear of failing in our relationships, a fear of financial ruin, a fear of getting cancer or some other health issue, and the list goes on and on. The question is how we handle these fears or if we let them control our life.

Not only does Max ask the questions, but he gives straightforward answers. He tells us how to turn our fears over to God. Max gives examples from the Bible of people being afraid in certain situations, and how they were able to overcome their fear with God's help. The book also gives examples from modern day, which really helps to apply these truths to our own situation.

Written in the typical Max Lucado style, this book is easy to read, simple to understand, and yet it forces us to look deep within ourselves. I was challenged and inspired by the words in this book to truly hand over all of my fears to God. This book will definitely be added to my stack of favourite books, and it is one that I plan to read again.

An excerpt from the back cover says: "Each sunrise seems to bring fresh reasons for fear. They're talking layoffs at work, slowdowns in the economy, flare-ups in the Middle East, turnovers at headquarters, downturns in the housing market, upswings in global warming. The plague of our day, terrorism, begins with the word terror. Fear, it seems, has taken up a hundred-year lease on the building next door and set up shop. Oversized and rude, fear herds us into a prison of unlocked doors. Wouldn't it be great to walk out? Imagine your life, wholly untouched by angst. What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? If you could hover a fear magnet over your heart and extract every last shaving of dread, insecurity, or doubt, what would remain? Envision a day, just one day, where you could trust more and fear less. Can you imagine your life without fear?"
