Review: The Last Word (by Kathy Herman)

The Last Word is the second book in the Sophie Trace Trilogy, and it is filled with high-tension suspense and unforgettable characters that tug at your heart. Police chief Brill Jessup is the target of a vicious killer, and the safety of the entire family becomes the main focus of the story. Then her 20 year old daughter Vanessa comes home from college seven months pregnant and abandoned by the father of the baby, her college professor. All this happens as the family is still trying to come to terms and healing from a previous hostage taking event that involved their 10 year old daughter, Emily.

The intense drama and life changing decisions kept me from putting this book down until I was finished. I was immediately drawn into the lives of this family and all they were going through.

This story demonstrates how faith in God and a strong love for each other will give the strength and courage to make the right decisions, no matter what. This is a story of God's love for all who are broken, no matter how much of a mess they have made.

This is a little video clip from David C. Cook, the publisher of The Last Word:

This was a great story, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
