At Home with Laurie Ann: A Decorator's Guide by Laurie Ann McMillin Ray (Review)

Several weeks ago, I posted a giveaway for a book called At Home With Laurie Ann, A Decorator's Guide: Turn the Place You Live into a Home You Love.

I was excited to receive my own copy of this book to review, and I love it! I have always been intimidated by the concept of home decorating, yet I do enjoy looking in decorating books and magazines. Maybe it was just because I didn't know where to start. Laurie Ann has some awesome tips to help you determine what your unique decorating style is. She then takes you through some simple exercises that help to analyze what your favorite colors and fabrics are ... without spending any money first.

I know this book will become a favourite coffee table book in our home, and I look forward to discovering what my decorating style is. It will be interesting to find out whether I prefer a romantic, tranquil, contemporary, eclectic or formal style. I love how Laurie Anne mixes colors and fabrics and hopefully I can learn to put together some awesome combinations for our home too.

One thing I have definitely learned from this book is to be bold and try new things. Looking around our home, I guess we were very conservative and "safe" when shopping for our furniture. We have a similar type of wooden furniture in almost every room in our house, all with the same antique stain finish. It is time to put some color into our home, and I plan to go shopping for paint real soon. And thanks to Laurie Ann, I might even try some really bold colors that I never would have tried before. And if I don't like it, I will just paint it again, until I get it right!

The giveaway for this book by Laurie Ann ends on March 5, and click here if you would like to enter for your own copy of this great book. The contest winner will also receive a really cool candle, a cross and a box of mini candles.

Thank you to Paula of Author Marketing Experts, Inc. for sending me a complimentary copy of this book for the purpose of review.
