Successful photographer Callie Perry thinks she has a pretty perfect life, although it may not be everyone's idea of happiness: a great job, lots of time with her children, but a workaholic husband. She couldn't be more unlike Steff, her younger sister, who has never held down a job—or a boyfriend—for more than six months. Walter and Honor, their divorced and perpetually feuding parents, have almost given up hope that Steff will ever learn what it is to be responsible … until they all receive a shocking email that changes their lives forever, and brings them together one extraordinary summer in Maine.

Promises to Keep
is about the hard choices we sometimes have to make, about having to be your parents' child long after you've grown up—and about the enduring nature of love.

A perfect life, a perfect family, and perfect plans for a beautiful future. All is shattered by devastating news, and the Tollemarche family will never be the same. Promises to Keep is an unforgettable story that will make you laugh out loud, and maybe even cry bitter tears at the unfairness of life. It might even make you hug the ones you love ... just a little tighter and a little longer.

This is the first novel I have read by Jane Green, and it won't be the last. It is an amazing story of the relationships between sisters, mothers, daughters and best friends. It is also a story of romance, second chances and beautiful friendships. It is all about being there for each other, through the good times and the bad times.

Right from the first chapters of this book, I felt like I had met some new best friends, and I didn't want the relationship to end. The characters are so real, and I couldn't help but feel the heartache that the family was going through. It has been a long time since I have been so affected by a fictional story.

I can't recommend this book highly enough. No matter what stage of your life, you will definitely relate to at least one of the characters in this story. This is an amazing look at a family in crisis and how they all rallied around each other throughout a very difficult time.

MY RATING - 5 out of 5
