Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo's empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.
Nicholas Sparks is the author of 15 books. He lives in North Carolina with his wife and children. You can visit the author's web site at www.nicholassparks.com.
Safe Haven is a beautiful and painfully transparent story that will tug at your heart. Katie's story is filled with pain and injustice ... yet she finds the strength and determination to make a better way for herself. Dark secrets from her past keep her from letting anyone get close to her. That is ... until she meets Alex and his children, and her mysterious neighbour Jo.
Determined to keep her past from others, Katie is shocked when Alex tells her that he understands what she has been through. He seems to have an uncanny notion about what she is running from, and he is amazingly accurate. Katie's journey to finally let down the walls she has built around herself will open up a world that she has only dreamed of. Yet her struggles are far from over.
Not the typical Nicholas Sparks style, Safe Haven is a beautiful love story, but there are also elements of fear, suspense and danger that kept me on the edge of my seat. The narration in this audio book is captivating, and it is one of my favourite Nicholas Sparks novels so far.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary audio book of Safe Haven from Hachette Books in exchange for my honest review. I received no compensation for my thoughts.
