Life during the War of 1812 was full of struggles, adventure, injustice and marriages arranged for reasons other than love. Marianne and Noah were engaged to be married, and neither of them wants to go through with it. Humiliated by Noah's sudden departure from their engagement party, Marianne rushes after him to save herself from further humiliation. This is just the beginning of troubles that will change their lives forever.
From the beginning of this book, I was drawn into the history and also into the lives of Marianne and Noah. They each had separate agendas that dictated their actions, but these agendas were totally opposite from each other. They are thrown into an impossible situation and their faith in God and in each other is tested to the limit.
I enjoyed this book immensely and look forward to reading the next book in the Surrender to Destiny series, Surrender the Night, which will be released in March 2011.
