Emily's Chance by Sharon Gillenwater

Emily Rose may be in the tiny West Texas town of Callahan Crossing for the moment, but it's just a rung on her ladder to success. Her work at the Callahan Crossing Historical Museum will look good on her ever-growing resume as she attempts to break into the prestigious world of a big city museum curator. Little does she know that cowboy and contractor Chance Callahan has decided that he can convince her to stay--both with the town and with him. As he helps Emily restore the town's history after a devastating fire, can he help her uncover the value of love?

MY THOUGHTS

All the best parts of a perfect story are wrapped up in this delightful book - a strikingly handsome cowboy in love with a city girl, a city girl determined not to fall in love with the handsome cowboy, and a community of friends and family who just know they are made for each other.

Emily has her sights set on becoming the head curator of big city museum, and her temporary stay in Callahan Crossing is simply a stepping stone on her way to the top.  Chance is a small town cowboy/contractor who does everything in his power to change Emily's mind.

I have a soft spot all things "country", and I found the descriptions of ranch life and small town living realistic and believable. I was drawn into the story from the beginning pages, and couldn't help but cheer for this young couple to finally get together.  The journey brought them through a fire that ravaged the town, a tornado, the allure of big city life, and so much more.

Emily's grandfather had some very wise words that I love, "True love lasts forever.  In the end it's all that really counts. Trust the Lord and follow your heart. What your mama and daddy expect you to do with your life ain't worth the spit on a postage stamp."

Emily's Chance is a very enjoyable story that shows the importance of faith, family and friends.
