Three sisters along with their parents live in the small town of Rosey Corner in the 1930's. They each seem to go their own way, and the parents have lost their passion and common goals of earlier years. Only Kate, the middle child, seems determined to keep the family together with any sense of continuity.
Along comes 5 year old Lorena Birdsong, abandoned by her parents because they can't afford to feed her. Kate discovers the little girl sitting on the steps of the country church, waiting for an "angel" to rescue her. Kate immediately feels a connection to the little girl and brings her home to meet the rest of the family, and it doesn't take long for the little girl to capture their hearts.
I loved this story of a family who didn't have much, except for each other. They were finally able to face some deep hurts, and move on with new hope and forgiveness. All of this was spurred on by the love that one special little angel brought into their lives, and their family would never be the same.
I found the beginning chapters a bit hard to get into, but once I got into the story, it was very hard to put down. A very enjoyable story!
