Broken Wings by Carla Stewart
On the other side of Tulsa, everyone believes Brooke Woodson has found the perfect man--a handsome lawyer with sights on becoming Tulsa's next District Attorney. If only Brooke felt more sure. If only her fiancé could control his anger. If only love didn't come with so many scars.
When an accident lands Brooke in the hospital where Mitzi volunteers, the two women quickly develop an unlikely friendship birthed by providence and bathed in grace. And with Mitzi's help, kindness, and insight, Brooke learns how to pick up the broken pieces of her life.

Broken Wings is an amazing story dealing with two devastating issues that are unfortunately prevalent in our society ... physical abuse and Alzheimer's. It is unusual to think of these two diseases in the same breath, as they seem far removed from one another in our normal scope of thinking.
Two women form an unlikely but close bond of friendship, even though separated by generations. They each provide exactly what the other one needs, which is support and understanding. It is amazing how God put them together exactly when they needed it the most.
From the stunning cover with the image of a broken winged sparrow in a nest, and right through to the very last page, I was mesmerized by the story. Broken Wings has touched some very sensitive parts of my own life.
