Taming the Wind is the third and final book in the Land of the Lone Star Series, and the rich character development and realistic portrayal of historical events in the Wild West captured my attention from the beginning.
Carissa and Tyler both have haunting memories from their past, and it seems that everyone else thinks they would make a perfect couple, except for themselves. Tyler lost family members and the ranch due to circumstances beyond his control, and he is seeking revenge. Carissa almost died at the hand of her former husband, and she is not about to trust anyone, especially another man, into her life.
Out of necessity, a long cattle drive separates the men from the women in the small ranching community. Hardships and danger both at home and on the trail force all the characters, including Carissa and Tyler, to take an honest look at their faith and their relationships with each other.
I am always amazed at the creativity of Tracie Peterson, and it makes me sad that this series is over. I loved the characters and will miss hanging out with Hannah, Laura and Carissa ... and their handsome cowboys.
